The Regulatory Landscape for Public Sector AI

Government AI is subject to Executive Order 14110, NIST AI RMF, and agency-specific requirements from OMB, CISA, and sector regulators.

🏛️

Executive Order 14110

EO 14110 (Safe, Secure, and Trustworthy AI) requires federal agencies to implement AI safety testing, red-teaming, and watermarking for powerful AI models. Kovral's Red Team module directly supports EO 14110 requirements.

📋

NIST AI RMF

The NIST AI Risk Management Framework is the primary federal guidance for AI governance. Kovral maps all capabilities to NIST AI RMF functions: Govern, Map, Measure, and Manage.

🔒

FedRAMP

Kovral's FedRAMP Moderate authorization (in progress) ensures the platform meets the security requirements for federal information systems. Contact us for the current FedRAMP status and provisional authorization documents.

🛡️

CISA AI Guidelines

CISA's guidelines for AI security in critical infrastructure are directly addressed by Kovral's threat detection and governance capabilities.

FAQ

Common Questions

Kovral is currently pursuing FedRAMP Moderate authorization. We have completed the System Security Plan (SSP) and are in the 3PAO assessment phase. For agencies that need to deploy before authorization is complete, Kovral can be deployed in a customer-managed cloud environment (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government) under the agency's existing ATO. Contact our public sector team at info@kovral.ai for the current status and a copy of our pre-authorization documentation.
Kovral's on-premises gateway mode supports fully air-gapped deployments with no internet connectivity required. The gateway operates entirely within your environment and communicates with the Kovral management plane only for licence verification and configuration updates — both of which can be handled via a one-way data diode if required. Contact our public sector team for the specific architecture documentation for classified environments.
Executive Order 14110 directs agencies to implement red-teaming for powerful AI systems. Kovral's Red Team Testing module provides automated adversarial testing against 500+ attack scenarios, aligned to NIST's draft AI 100-2 (Adversarial Machine Learning) taxonomy. Red team results are documented in NIST AI RMF-aligned reports, suitable for submission to OMB and CISA as evidence of compliance with EO 14110 Section 4.
